Journal columnist and TV personality Denise Robertson on the heartbreak and unfairness that is all Denise Robertsontoo common in the legal system. Last week a grandmother wrote: “My only hope now is a miracle, which is unlikely, as since this happened to my family I have met so many innocent parents and grandparents who have lost their children to forced adoption.   1. Of course you are right but I wish people could see the solution.”No punishment without crime” !
    Most parents who contact me say “we have done nothing wrong” yet babies are taken at birth for risk and then adopted by strangers.If children could only be forcibly taken from parents who had either been convicted of a significant crime against children or at least been charged with such a crime (but in the latter case if found not guilty the children should be immediately returned.)
    This was the case in the UK before 1948 and the advent of social workers ,family courts,forced adoption,no smacking,and the concept of “risk of future harm”;
    Surely if we punish those who break the law we should not also punish those who do NOT break the law?
